How it works
Sync Licensing
Synchronization licensing, or “sync” licensing, is a legal agreement between a music copyright owner and a third party that allows the third party to use the music in a visual media project. This can include use in TV shows, films, advertisements, video games, and more.
Make A Mark Records, Inc. has countless relationships with music licensing companies and music supervisors. These are the individuals who primarily decide on your music being placed. As an independent artist, these individuals are not interested in speaking with you directly. We will ensure that you are taken seriously and paid properly for your music. We can offer you major label placement opportunities via our company. Do Not pass this up. Sync licensing is the golden ticket in generating revenue for independent artists.
Structure of deal
- Artist retains all rights to their master’s and publishing.
- Up Front Money is split 70%-30% percentage with artist retaining 70%
- Back End Money (Royalties) are 100% for the writers and publishers. We do not take a percentage of your royalties.
- Music will be shopped everywhere we believe your music is a good fit. This is not a one-off shopping opportunity.
You can and should purchase one of our royalty collections set up services to ensure you maximize your money. Over 1 billion dollars in the music industry goes UNCOLLECTED each year because individuals do not know how to set this up correctly.
Have you imagined going to the movies, watching television, or playing your favorite video game and hearing your music playing!! Better yet, getting paid for it!!! If you have then this package is for you.
process
- Fill out the form to see if you are eligible.
- If your music is eligible you will receive a payment link ($100) for your music to be reviewed with feedback
- You will now have the option to upload up to 5 tracks
- Once we receive your tracks, we will review the music and get back to you with feedback and the next steps.
- If your music is selected there will be a nominal charge for administrative tasks in connection with shopping the music. This charge will depend on the number of songs in your catalogue that we agree to shop on your behalf.
You must own 100% of master’s and be able to rep 100% of publishing if you do not own 100% of it. Repping means having written permission from the other publishing owners that they can shop it for placements. Also, no songs are to be submitted that have samples in them unless you have written clearance.
